Water is never simply blue.
The Colors of Water is inspired by the ever-changing palette of the sea—from soft aqua and sea-glass turquoise to deep ocean blue, periwinkle and violet, with glimmers of gold and silver catching the light.
Each shell is individually painted and embellished, allowing its natural shape and texture to become part of the artwork. Among them are natural pearlescent shells, sea glass, and several shells personally collected along the shores of Delray Beach—little pieces of the ocean woven into the story of the work itself.
Arranged together in this large 18” × 24” shadow box, each shell becomes its own tiny study of water, light and color.
