Painted in the courtyard of the 400-year-old house where we stayed in Sorèze, this colorful still life captures the simple beauty of everyday life in Southern France. Fresh flowers filled the table, fruit had just been set out, and the patterned cloth, painted furniture, and surrounding garden created a scene overflowing with color and warmth.

What drew me to paint it was the feeling of abundance — fresh food, fresh flowers, beautiful surroundings, and the pleasure of sitting together in such an extraordinary old home. The bold colors and loose brushwork reflect how alive and joyful that courtyard felt to me.
