Painted en plein air on a beautiful day in France, McCartney’s Pond captures the color and movement of a quiet garden pond filled with water lilies and lush greenery.

I painted this piece outdoors with my headphones,  listening to Paul McCartney while I worked. The music, the sunlight, the reflections on the water, and the peacefulness of the setting all became part of the memory of the painting.

The title has always stayed with me because it holds both the place and the soundtrack of that afternoon — a joyful little moment in France preserved in paint.
